Right now, nobody can tell you with certainty where short-barreled rifles will land. A federal court in Texas ruled the NFA’s registration requirements unconstitutional for SBRs and suppressors, the decision is narrow and under appeal, and the answer keeps moving week to week.
You’ve got two bad options in that situation: buy a braced pistol and hope you don’t want a stock later, or sit on your hands. This package is the third one. PSA JAKL, 8.5″ barrel, 300 Blackout. Bufferless side-folding action, AR-pattern controls, AR magazines. The 8.5″ barrel is the sweet spot for 300 BLK — enough to burn supersonic loads cleanly, short enough to stay compact suppressed.
F5-ACR Gen 3 Chassis. CNC-machined from solid 6061 billet, skeletonized only where the load path allows. Bolts directly to the JAKL’s rear interface with no adapter. Tool-less adjustable cheek riser and positive lockup folded or deployed.
Cyberarm Light Brace. 95.75 grams — roughly half the standard version. Keeps the gun light and legal as a pistol.

Why 300 Blackout
Short barrels are what 300 BLK was designed around. Subsonic loads stay quiet through a can, supersonic loads hit hard inside 200 yards, and you’re running standard AR mags either way. Pair that with a folding chassis and 95 grams out back and you’ve got one of the most packable suppressor hosts you can build.

Before You Order
The JAKL ships as a pistol with the Cyberarm Light Brace installed. Installing the included stock on a firearm with a barrel under 16 inches makes a short-barreled rifle under federal law.
The August 2026 ruling in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF is real, but it does not apply to everyone. The injunction is party-specific, it’s been stayed, and it may be appealed further. Do not install the stock until you have either an approved Form 1 or confirmation from a qualified attorney that the ruling covers you. Penalties for getting this wrong haven’t changed.
